For the month of January, the Conference Room Gallery is showing the watercolors of Paul O. Rawson, Jr., which are inspired by the natural world, architectural works, and sheer imagination. Mr. Rawson’s career as an Industrial Designer led to inventorship on a multitude of design patents through his work first at the General Electric Corporation, then at the Van Dyke consulting firm and ultimately at his own company, Rawson Design. Among his notable patented achievements are the design of the first GE Toaster oven, currently on display in the Smithsonian Institution and the first electric curling iron for Clairol. Since his retirement in 1972, Mr. Rawson has created several hundred works of art, from the whimsical to the majestic.

The Display Case features a “Presidents in Theater” exhibit, by Dr. Stuart Brown, a Director of Student Services at UConn-Waterbury. He has been attending Off-Broadway and Broadway productions for the past 45 years, and has hosted the radio program, “On Broadway,” at WRTC-FM, 89.3, Trinity College on Sunday from 5:30-6:30PM for over 20 years. The show can be listened to live or online at WRTCFM.com or downloaded at the website http://www.broadwayradioprograms.com. Brown is a member of the Connecticut Critics Circle and the Outer Critics Circle. His CT and NY theater reviews can be read online at: stuonbroadway.blogspot.com.
